Is There Anyone Out There?

How do you like my Billy-Boy? Add Image I'm going to start this blog with a complaint..."I'm so tired of listening to the President of the United States lie to us." I just heard him use an example of how a man died because his health insurance had run out. He had cancer, and he died. OK...here's the truth (and anyone with half a brain can google, etc. the real answers): the man had cancer, and yes, his insurance had run out, but here's the REAL story. His sister said that they were able to reinstate, or get new insurance, he had a procedure (stem cell, not sure), and he did die... FOUR YEARS LATER (when the cancer ultimately got him. I just can't stand it when politicians use us and their twisted versions just to work for their side. How is everyone? I'm at school trying to figure out how to use up three hours of prep time and not fall asleep. One thing I do get done is my college grading, so maybe it's not too bad. I have some pictures I took over Labor Day, but they're at home, so I'll post this and add the pictures later. Our weather is still amazing (still a bit too hot), but considering tomorrow is the beginning of Autumn, I shouldn't complain. Vicky, if you're reading this, I'm so sorry we didn't get up to Provo last weekend. We were so busy with our college stuff, and I figured you'd have so much family to get caught up on, we would just be in the way. See you next summer! Summer and Tyler and kids were down for Labor Day weekend, prior to Maggie breaking her little arm!

I'm too old for this!

I'm writing in the largest font I can find, and believe me there is a reason for this! As you all know, I teach high school English and love doing so, BUT, yesterday in one of my sophomore classes I actually thought it was the very first day of my teaching career. Some of you may know this feeling... 1. a myriad of faces you don't really know. 2. a myriad of faces you don't really want to know. 3. a class of 35 students with 27 being of the male gender, and 7 being female. That's not all, 10 of these 27 boys receive special ed. services, approximately 8-10 are hispanic (don't get me wrong, I love teaching all diverse groups, but our Resource Officer told me that most of those little guys came to the high school with a record that may or may not include a court record. I needed a long nap after that class, just to take myself away to my "happy place." Needless to say, there will be changes made in the class, but for the first time in my career, I began to rethink my career path. Today's been better, but maybe that's because I haven't had any students, yet...wish me luck!
